Assistant Attorney General Viet Dinh of the Office of Legal Policy released the following statement: "Today President George W. Bush nominated 24 District Court judges for the federal judiciary, bringing total nominations to a record high. Thirteen of the 24 nominees serve or have served as state judges or federal magistrate judges. These individuals are highly qualified and fit to serve the American people. To date, the President has nominated 90 individuals to serve in the federal judiciary; none of the six previous Presidents (Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, and Clinton) submitted more than 47 judicial nominations at this point in their Presidencies."
