FOR PLANNING PURPOSES THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2003 WWW.USDOJ.GOV AT (202) 514-2007 TDD (202) 514-1888 WASHINGTON, D.C. - Attorney General John Ashcroft will speak at a ceremony to recognize the 100th anniversary of the appointment of the first Assistant to the Attorney General with responsibility for antitrust, and the 70th anniversary of the formal creation of the Antitrust Division TODAY, THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2003 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Robert F. Kennedy Main Justice Building.

R. Hewitt Pate, Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Antitrust Division, will deliver remarks. The ceremony will also recognize the recipient of the Department's John Sherman Award, the Honorable Richard A. Posner. Judge Posner will receive the award for his lifetime contributions to the teaching and enforcement of antitrust law and the development of antitrust policy. A reception will be held immediately following the ceremony in the Antitrust Division's conference room 3109.
