Comey, the head of the President’s Corporate Fraud Task Force, issued the following statement today about the announcement that Leslie R. Caldwell will be stepping down as Director of the Enron Task Force, and that Deputy Director Andrew Weissmann will succeed Caldwell as Director: “Under Leslie Caldwell’s leadership, the Enron Task Force has untangled the morass of transactions that led to Enron’s collapse. Her contributions to the Task Force have been invaluable, and she should be commended for her work. It is reassuring to know that the Task Force will not miss a beat as Andrew Weissmann assumes his new duties as Task Force Director. Andrew is a talented prosecutor and a proven leader. Those skills will be put to good use as the Enron investigation continues.” 04-128
