ATTORNEY GENERAL ALBERTO GONZALES TO TRAVEL TO MEXICO

FOR PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY TUESDAY, MARCH 29, 2005 WWW.USDOJ.GOV AG (202) 514-2008 TDD (202) 514-1888 WASHINGTON, DC - Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales will travel to Mexico City, Mexico on TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY, MARCH 29-30, to meet with Mexican government leaders. The Attorney General will attend meetings on Tuesday, March 30 with President Vicente Fox, Secretary of Government Santiago Creel, CISEN (Centro de Investigación y Seguridad Nacional) Director Eduardo Medina Mora, Mexican Attorney General Macedo de la Concha, and Secretary of Foreign Relations Luis Ernesto Derbez to discuss cross-border cooperation.

Upon departure, Attorney General Gonzales made the following statement in regards to his travel to Mexico City: "I look forward to my visit to Mexico and I appreciate the opportunity to meet with President Fox and other esteemed Mexican government officials to discuss the important issues facing our countries and how we can continue to cooperate across our borders in ways that benefit our citizens, our security and our economies." 05-149
