FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE THURSDAY, JULY 27, 2006 WWW.USDOJ.GOV CRT (202) 514-2007 TDD (202) 514-1888 "This morning, the President signed the Fannie Lou Hamer, Rosa Parks, and Coretta Scott King Voting Rights Act Reauthorization and Amendments Act of 2006 into law, reauthorizing a statute that has been an integral tool in ensuring that the civil rights of Americans have been protected for more than four decades. The Civil Rights Division has been committed to the vigorous enforcement of this law, and with its reauthorization, we renew our commitment to the continued enforcement of its valuable protections." 06-471
