U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg participated in a variety of events at COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland as part of a worldwide push for green infrastructure.

“The acronym COP stands for 'Conference of the Parties.' The @UN summit brings together nations from across the world to discuss climate change. During #COP26, learn how #ClimateAction and each #SDG are related!” said UN DESA Sustainable Development in a tweet Wednesday.

In addition to Transport Day, Buttigieg also attended several public events, where he planned to discuss the importance of accelerating global action in order to confront climate change while managing to adapt to the challenges that climate change has already brought across the globe, according to the DOT website.

Buttigieg also participated in bilateral meetings and is set to commit the U.S. to international agreements aimed at advancing sustainable transportation, according to the DOT website. His statements on behalf of the U.S. will outline the rising challenges of making transportation the largest part of the solution while still supplying good-paying jobs in the process on behalf of the President Joe Biden-Vice President Kamala Harris administration.
