Statement by Secretary Johnson on President Obama's Nomination of U.S. Attorney Loretta Lynch to Serve as Attorney General

I first met Loretta Lynch in 1997, in a courtroom on Long Island, New York, where she was prosecuting and I was defending a criminal case. Since then I have watched Loretta progress as a solid, steady and experienced prosecutor. As the President noted, it is hard to imagine anyone more qualified to be the Nation's chief law enforcement officer. If confirmed by the Senate, Loretta will be a terrific Attorney General, and I look forward to working with her in the Cabinet.
