Statement by Secretary Johnson on President Obama's Nomination of U.S. Attorney Loretta Lynch to Serve as Attorney General

The following press release was published by the US Department of Homeland Security on Nov. 8, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

For Immediate Release DHS Press Office Contact: 202-282-8010 The President has nominated an excellent public servant to be the next Attorney General. I first met Loretta Lynch in 1997, in a courtroom on Long Island, New York, where she was prosecuting and I was defending a criminal case. Since then I have watched Loretta progress as a solid, steady and experienced prosecutor. As the President noted, it is hard to imagine anyone more qualified to be the Nation's chief law enforcement officer. If confirmed by the Senate, Loretta will be a terrific Attorney General, and I look forward to working with her in the Cabinet.
