Billions of dollars are headed to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that President Joe Biden signed into law Monday, according to the department.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said the law will not only create jobs, but also provide help to the most needy communities because of the law that created "historic investments."

"I was honored to be present at the president's signing ceremony today," Mayorkas wrote in a statement. "Our Department of Homeland Security will receive significant funds to advance our work on behalf of the American people."

The infrastructure bill dedicated almost $2 billion to cybersecurity, according to the website CyberScoop.com. The total budgetary price tag for the legislation is around $1 trillion dollars.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, the new infrastructure bill was signed after receiving bipartisan support in both the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate. Mayorkas said it " will have a profound impact on our department and our ability to execute our mission."

In total, the department is expected to receive about $8 billion through the new bill. The Federal Emergency Management Agency will receive almost $7 billion for dam safety, disaster relief funding and the national flood insurance program.
