Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo and Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno Hirozaku met to discuss ways the United States and Japan can work together to deepen commercial cooperation. The Secretary highlighted the United States’ interest in working with partners like Japan to develop an Indo-Pacific economic framework and welcomed Japan’s partnership in areas the framework would seek to advance, including facilitating infrastructure development, the digital economy, and supply chain resiliency. The Secretary underscored the importance of deepening bilateral engagement between the United States and Japan and the important role it will play in supporting broader efforts with partners across the region.
