OGDEN, UT – Tomorrow, Thursday, March 6, 2014, Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell will headline the fifth annual Intermountain Sustainability Summit at Weber State University.
In a keynote address sponsored by the Olene S.Walker Institute of Politics & Public Service, Secretary Jewell will discuss Interior's role in developing domestic clean energy sources, reducing carbon pollution and creating jobs, as part of the President's Climate Action Plan. The President's Budget Proposal for FY 2015 includes a $1 billion Climate Resilience Fund which will invest in research, help communities plan and prepare for climate change impacts, and funding breakthrough technologies to build smarter and more resilient infrastructure.
Jewell is speaking at the invitation of former Utah Gov. Walker after whom the institute is named. The speech will be live streamed to the public at tinyurl.com/wsustream.
