ARLINGTON, Va. - Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell will join the Student Conservation Association (SCA), the national leader in building the next generation of environmental stewards, and AmeriCorps to commemorate September 11th as a national day of service and remembrance with an afternoon of shoreline restoration at Roaches Run Waterfowl Sanctuary in Arlington.
Secretary Jewell, who is committed to expanding recreational, educational, volunteer and career opportunities for millions of youth and veterans on the nation's public lands, and has put forth an ambitious youth initiative for the Department of the Interior to help create the next generation of outdoor stewards, will work alongside nearly 100 SCA volunteers to restore this lake shore ecosystem.
