The following media advisory was published by the Department of Interior on April 23, 2010. It is reproduced in full below.

MESA VERDE NATIONAL PARK -- Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar will hold a press conference April 25th to highlight the Obama Administration's America's Great Outdoors Initiative and $10.1 million in projects at Mesa Verde that are being undertaken as part of the President's economy recovery plan.

Launched by President Obama earlier this month, the America's Great Outdoors Initiative will promote and support innovative community-level efforts to conserve outdoor spaces and to reconnect Americans to the outdoors. Under the initiative, the Department of the Interior and other federal agencies are reaching out to communities across the country to hear good ideas about conservation and to learn about the efforts that ordinary Americans are making to conserve our land, water, and wildlife.

Recovery projects being undertaken at park include replacing aging waterlines and electrical systems, installing photovoltaic systems on historic buildings, and purchasing alternative energy transit buses.
