AWENDAW, SC – On Wednesday, Nov. 20, Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell will visit Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge to tour a proposed project to conserve nearly 4,000 acres of longleaf pine ecosystem in the South Carolina Longleaf Legacy / Santee River Basin.
Jewell will also host a roundtable discussion with local stakeholders who are spearheading efforts to conserve the longleaf pine forest across the Southeast.
Wednesday's visit will expand upon Jewell's National Press Club remarks last month, where she underscored the importance of the Land and Water Conservation Fund to collaborative, landscape-level conservation and to leverage public-private partnerships.
