NEW ORLEANS, LA - Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell will be in New Orleans on Friday to announce another milestone toward the restoration of the Gulf coast region following the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill. At 9am CST, Jewell will join local, federal and state officials to announce the third and largest phase of early restoration projects along the Gulf Coast as proposed by the Deepwater Horizon Natural Resource Damage Assessment Trustees.
Jewell will also highlight ongoing interagency work to restore the region's natural resources and underscore how Gulf Coast resilience is an important part of the President's Climate Action Plan , which includes key measures to restore natural features along shorelines that help better protect communities from future storms.
