Secretary Jewell to Discuss Value of Public Lands at Western Governors' Association Annual Meeting - Archive

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Saturday, December 6, U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell will deliver keynote remarks at the Western Governors' Association winter meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada. Secretary Jewell will discuss the importance of public lands to support local economies through outdoor recreation, conservation, travel and tourism, and responsible energy development.

Jewell will also discuss innovative efforts to conserve iconic sagebrush landscapes across the West and the need for aggressive action on rangeland fire.

Prior to her remarks, Jewell will join U.S. Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz for a brief media availability.

The Western Governors' Association is an independent organization representing the governors of 19 states and three US-Flag Pacific islands.
