Secretary Jewell, OSMRE Director Pizarchik to Visit West Virginia - Archive

HOLDEN, W.Va. – On Friday, June 5, Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell and Director of the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE) Joseph Pizarchik will visit surface mining and mine land reclamation projects in West Virginia.

The Secretary and Director will tour a Central Appalachia surface mining operation and receive briefings from state and industry officials on production and reclamation technologies.

They will also meet with Department employees in the region and hold a brief media availability to discuss the visit.

OSMRE is charged with balancing the nation's need for continued domestic coal production with protection of the environment.
