Secretary Jewell to Deliver Commencement Address at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College - Archive

DULUTH, MN – On Thursday, May 19, U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell will deliver the commencement address at the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College 2016 Commencement Ceremony. Secretary Jewell will be joined by White House Special Assistant to the President for Native American Affairs Karen Diver.

Secretary Jewell will be the first Secretary of the Interior to speak at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College, a school that represents a model that is a first of its kind – marrying a tribal college with a state community college – creating more robust curriculum and integrating a diverse community of students from across the nation.

As Secretary of the Interior, Jewell upholds trust responsibilities to the 567 federally recognized American Indian tribes and Alaska Natives. Jewell also serves as chair of the White House Council on Native American Affairs, which works to improve interagency coordination and expand efforts to leverage federal programs and resources available to tribal communities.
