AUSTIN, TEXAS – On Thursday, Dec. 15, U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell will visit AmericanYouthWorks – which oversees the Texas Conservation Corps – to make a major announcement related to the Interior Department’s Youth Initiative, which aims to inspire millions of kids to play, learn, serve and work outdoors.
Through investing in opportunities to get young people outside, Interior is bridging the growing disconnect between kids and nature and engaging the next generation to be stewards of our land, water and wildlife.
Founded in 1981, American YouthWorks provides young people with opportunities to build careers, strengthen communities and improve the environment through education, on-the-job training and service to others.
