WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tomorrow, Wednesday, January 8, Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell will join American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. and the U.S. Department of Agriculture at the FDR Memorial in Washington, D.C. to make a major announcement regarding an initiative to better connect the next generation to America's great outdoors.
In October, Jewell delivered a speech at the National Press Club outlining her conservation vision for the country, which includes an ambitious initiative to engage the next generation through education, employment and volunteer opportunities on public lands.
On Wednesday, Jewell and American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. will announce an unprecedented private sector commitment that will help put young people and veterans to work on public lands and build a bold, new 21st Century Conservation Service Corps. Youth engagement has been a signature part of President Obama's conservation agenda, and Wednesday's announcement builds upon the ongoing partnership with USDA and other members of the federal family through the 21CSC.
