SALT LAKE CITY, UT - In keynote remarks at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Wednesday, Jan. 22, Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell will discuss her initiative to better connect the next generation to America's great outdoors. Jewell will also highlight the importance of the outdoor recreation industry to both conservation and the economy.
In October, Jewell delivered a speech at the National Press Club outlining her conservation vision for the country, which includes an ambitious initiative to encourage more young people to play, learn, serve, and work on public lands.
Wednesday's keynote address builds upon the ongoing collaboration of the public and private sectors to employ thousands of young people and veterans in President Obama's bold, new 21st Century Conservation Service Corps (21CSC) and an announcement earlier this month that American Eagle Outfitters has stepped up with an historic $1 million donation to support the 21CSC.
