WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Tuesday, Aug. 13, U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell will deliver the keynote address at the National Clean Energy Summit 6.0 in Las Vegas, NV. Secretary Jewell will discuss the President's Climate Action Plan and important conservation and mitigation measures Interior is implementing as it works to promote domestic energy on public lands.
The Summit, now in its 6th year is an annual conference hosted by Senator Harry Reid, MGM Resorts International, the Clean Energy Project, Center for American Progress and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. This year's Summit will bring together clean energy leaders, public officials, business executives, energy policy experts, entrepreneurs, investors, citizens and students to discuss the importance of making clean energy choices that will have a positive impact on the future, strengthen our nation's energy independence and create jobs. Prior to Secretary Jewell's keynote, she will join Senator Harry Reid and representatives from K Road Power, the Moapa Tribe and the Sierra Club to discuss progress of the K Road Moapa Solar Project in development on tribal trust land of the Moapa Band of Paiute Indians in Clark County, Nevada. As part of President Obama's commitment to strengthen tribal communities, the project was the first-ever, utility-scale solar project approved for development on tribal lands.
