COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – On Feb. 18, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar will join Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood and Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper to make a major announcement about the Rocky Mountain Greenway.
The Rocky Mountain Greenway is a proposed trail and open space network that will connect hundreds of miles of trails in the Denver metropolitan area. Part of President Obama's America's Great Outdoors Program, the Greenway will create an uninterrupted link between three urban national wildlife refuges – Rocky Mountain Arsenal, Rocky Flats, and Two Ponds – as well as Rocky Mountain National Park and community trail systems.
The event will also be a celebration of a recent expansion that added 1,200 acres of vital wildlife habitat to Rocky Flats National Wildlife Refuge.
