The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) recently seized over 100 pounds of cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine with a street value of over $1.5 million at the Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry in Texas.

The seizure occurred in two separate incidents, a Jan. 11 CBP press release said. The first, occurring on Jan. 4 at the Hidalgo National Bridge, netted 90 pounds of alleged methamphetamine from a “2010 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 42-year-old male United States citizen who resides in San Antonio, Texas.”

The second incident occurred on Jan. 7 when a “2016 Nissan March driven by an 18-year-old male United States citizen who resides in Reynosa, Tamaulipas,” Mexico was flagged for examination on the same bridge, the release said. A search uncovered 38 pounds of alleged cocaine as well as 448 grams of alleged fentanyl.

“These significant seizures of hard narcotics not only illustrate the firm commitment of our frontline CBP officers to carry out CBP’s border security mission but show how their important work helps to protect our communities from illegal narcotics,” Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry, said in the release.

The combined estimated street value of the two seizures is $1,575,995, the release said.

“CBP officers seized the narcotics and the vehicle,” the release said. “Both drivers were arrested, and the cases were turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.”
