James Inhofe (R-Okla.), Chairman of the Environment & Public Works Committee, praised the appointment of Senate conferees for the House-Senate conference committee on the Safe Accountable, Flexible, and Efficient Transportation Equity Act (SAFETEA) - also known as the highway bill. Inhofe will serve as Chairman of the conference committee.

Senator Inhofe said. “I thank the leaders on both sides of the aisle for their hard work in getting us over this final hurdle and will be prioritizing the full resources of the Committee to prepare for the conference so we can get this critical legislation to the President as soon as possible."
