Senator Boxer’s Statement on ANWR Wilderness Protection Plan

Washington, D.C. -- - Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Ranking Member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, issued the statement below following the Obama Administration's recommendation that Congress designate core areas of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) as wilderness.

Senator Boxer said: "President Obama's action follows a long line of bipartisan Presidents, including President Teddy Roosevelt, who set up the refuge system, and Presidents Eisenhower and Carter, who have acted to protect this precious resource."
