WASHINGTON - U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), chairman of the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, issued the following statement on the president's veto threat of the Federal Water Quality Protection Act and urging members to support cloture of the legislation:
"The president has threatened to veto common-sense, bipartisan legislation that would protect Americans' drinking water sources while also responsibly sending EPA back to the drawing board on the WOTUS regulation that is on shaky legal ground. Two courts have issued rulings that show the president's WOTUS rule is a serious threat to private land owners, farmers, and ranchers, and goes beyond the scope of the Clean Water Act. It is in the vital interest of all Americans that the Senate proceeds to the Federal Water Quality Protection Act so that the WOTUS rule can be considered in a bipartisan way and with open amendments."
