Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) issued the following statement today after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that Kimberlee Trzeciak, Chief Health Advisor for the Committee, will serve as Associate Commissioner for Legislative Affairs:
“Kim was one of the Committee’s first hires when I became Ranking Member in 2015. From those early days, it was clear that she had a passion for strengthening our public health systems to better help Americans so we could find new cures, reduce health care disparities, and fight the opioid epidemic. Throughout her time at the Committee, Kim oversaw all legislation related to the FDA, and developed strong relationships with both members and staff that will be extremely beneficial as she moves to the agency.
“Since the beginning of the pandemic, Kim has worked day and night to ensure the public health agencies have the support and resources they need from Congress to combat this terrible virus. Kim’s expertise was instrumental as we passed five comprehensive pandemic bills into law over the last two years.
“It’s always hard for me to see excellent staffers leave Congress, but there is nobody better suited for this position, and I wish Kim the best in her new role at FDA.”
