The Bureau of Land Management’s Southwest District Resource Advisory Council will attend a field trip to discuss travel management matters at Jumbo Mountain on March 2, then a meeting on March 3 at the Uncompahgre Field Office, 2465 S. “The Southwest Colorado Resource Advisory Council provides the BLM with vital feedback on current issues, concerns, and proposals, and enables us to engage with local communities and stakeholders to improve how we manage public lands,” said acting District Manager Elizabeth Dawson. “Their diverse backgrounds in southwest Colorado are essential in our decision making, and we look forward to hearing their perspectives on the projects we are currently working on.
A public comment period is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Planned agenda items include an overview of field office updates, a discussion about the travel management issues seen on the Jumbo Mountain field trip, a presentation on grazing management, and an opportunity for public comment. Individuals who want to make a statement during the public comment period are encouraged to also submit a written copy of their statement at the meeting for the administrative record. All 15-member Resource Advisory Councils in Colorado are forums for providing advice and recommendations to the BLM on various resource and land management issues. The Southwest Resource Advisory Council advises the BLM Colorado Southwest District including the Gunnison, Uncompahgre, and Tres Rios field offices.
