The Bureau of Prisons has announced a National Hiring Initiative in an effort to strengthen the future of the Federal prison system and supply jobs to those looking for employment during the pandemic. The Bureau has paused internal selections and will focus its human resources on recruiting highly qualified candidates from outside the agency.
This unprecedented effort to increase the agency’s staffing not only enhances the safety and wellbeing of employees and inmates, but also provides rewarding careers in positions of leadership and mentorship, from corrections officers to educators.
The hiring initiative will focus on recruiting candidates with diverse skills and experiences to fulfill the Bureau’s broad mission to provide inmates with safe facilities, as well as education, vocational training, substance abuse treatment, and programs that support successful reentry into communities
Building off the Bureau’s success in hiring nearly 4,000 new employees last year, the Bureau is poised to add thousands more this year through a network of activities including advertising campaigns, virtual interviews, and new job incentives, such as student loan repayment, annual leave credit, and competitive pay. With COVID-19 compliant hiring events organized across the country, there has never been a better time to join the Federal prison workforce.
If you or someone you know is looking for a rewarding career in public service leading and inspiring others, while serving as part of a tight-knit team, please visit www.bop.gov/jobs/ or the Bureau’s Linked In, Facebook, and Twitter pages.
