The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) have adapted the organization’s mission statement.
According to a Feb. 9 USCIS press release, the new objective is tailored for greater inclusivity and accessibility and rooted in a survey that was conducted last year in which employees gave their input on how the organization could maximize its potential.
“At its core, USCIS is about delivering decisions to families, businesses, workers, and those seeking refuge in our country on their applications, petitions, requests, and appeals,” Director Ur M. Jaddou said. "This new mission statement reflects the inclusive character of both our country and this agency. The United States is and will remain a welcoming nation that embraces people from across the world who seek family reunification, employment or professional opportunities, and humanitarian protection."
Jaddou added that organization cultivates an opportunity to build a stronger America through its program that “offer refuge to those in need of protection we are living up to our nation’s highest ideals.”
“USCIS is committed to ensuring that the immigration system we administer is accessible and humane,” he said. “As we look towards the future, my commitment will remain the same.”
USCIS reported that the updated objective is in line with the country’s pledge that welcomes immigrants in manner “with fairness, integrity and respect” using the organization’s main principles of integrity, respect, innovation and vigilance.
