There were 66 press releases published by the U.S. Department of Labor in January.

The most recent press release, "US Department of Labor awards $2.4M in funding for employment, training services to combat West Virginia’s opioid crisis," was submitted on Jan. 31.

The U.S. Department of Labor published 65 releases the month before, marking a 1.5 percent increase for the current month.

The Department provides billions in unemployment insurance, which peaked around 2011 though spending had declined before the pandemic. Downsizing the Federal Government, a project aimed at lowering taxes and boosting federal efficiency, claimed the Department funds "ineffective and duplicative services" and overregulates the workplace.

The proposed budget provides a significant boost to the DOL’s funding from $12.5 billion to $14.2 billion, a 13.6% increase.
