WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Pat Roberts, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, today announced the Committee voted to favorably report nominee Heath P. Tarbert to be Chairman and a Commissioner of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Tarbert may now be considered by the full U.S. Senate for confirmation.

“I’m pleased our Committee has approved Dr. Tarbert’s nomination to head the CFTC, upon Chairman Giancarlo’s departure," Roberts said. “Our farmers, ranchers, and end-users will benefit from Dr. Tarbert’s leadership at the CFTC. I urge my Senate colleagues to confirm this qualified nominee."

The Committee held a hearing on the nomination on March 13. Tarbert has the support of a variety of agricultural groups.
