WASHINGTON, DC - The Health Subcommittee, chaired by Rep. Joe Pitts (R-PA), today outlined a number of the panel’s priorities for the 113th Congress. In an ongoing effort to improve the quality of our nation’s health care system, Pitts announced the subcommittee will continue to monitor the implementation of the health care law, examine ways to provide states with more flexibility to manage Medicaid programs, continue efforts to ensure America remains the leader in medical innovation, and modernize and strengthen Medicare for future generations. The subcommittee will launch the 113th Congress with a hearing on Medicare physician payment on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at 10:15 a.m. in 2123 Rayburn House Office Building.
“Our nation’s health care system is at a critical junction," said Chairman Pitts. “In addition to closely monitoring the massive, new entitlement program created in Obamacare, we must strengthen and modernize Medicare to ensure we can meet the promises already made to today’s seniors, as well as fulfill our commitment to future generations. Under my leadership, the Health Subcommittee will examine ways to reduce health care costs, expand choices, and modernize Washington for the innovation era."
