Upton Comments on Thursday Meeting with President Obama

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Oct. 9, 2013. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) issued the following statement in advance of tomorrow’s scheduled meeting with President Obama at the White House:

“Right now, folks in Michigan and across the country are tired of government dysfunction. They want their leaders to talk through and tackle the difficult issues. For the past few weeks, my focus has been on how we can bridge this partisan divide and thoughtfully address our long-term fiscal challenges. It is time for all parties to work together to find some real solutions, including long overdue budget and tax reforms that will boost the economy, encourage job growth, and reduce spending. I am hopeful that the president will reason with us and be willing to negotiate tomorrow as we work to meaningfully address our challenges and do what is right for all Americans."
