The Subcommittee on Health, chaired by Rep. Joe Pitts (R-PA), has scheduled a hearing for Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, “Setting Fiscal Priorities."
As Congress prepares for the New Year, subcommittee members will hear from officials and experts about ongoing fiscal challenges and opportunities for savings within the federal health care budget. An official from the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission will be among the witnesses.
“Federal spending in Medicare and Medicaid, as well as the Affordable Care Act, remains an enormous driver of our nation’s fiscal challenges. The burden is so great that it has made it more difficult to make improvements in other areas of our health care system," said Pitts. “As we look toward a New Year with the hope of substantive, bipartisan accomplishments, we look forward to hearing about bipartisan opportunities for savings that can put this country on a stronger fiscal footing while also allowing for improvements in our nation’s health care systems."
