WASHINGTON, DC - The House Energy and Commerce Committee today announced its hearing schedule for the week of March 2. Members will hear testimony from two important agencies on their 2016 budget requests. Members will also examine 21st century energy markets and electricity challenges, review cyber threats, and discuss the 340B federal drug discount program.
On Tuesday, the Subcommittee on Energy and Power will look at the ever-changing dynamics of world energy markets and the economic and geopolitical implications. Members of the subcommittee will hear from a panel of experts, including U.S. Energy Information Administration Administrator Adam Sieminski, about how rapidly changing energy markets impact consumers, jobs, and the U.S. economy.as they are posted.
Also on Tuesday, the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will examine cyber threats and implications for the 21st century economy. In light of recent high-profile breaches members of the subcommittee will examine the history, evolution, and future of cybersecurity.as they are posted.
On Wednesday, the Subcommittee on Energy and Power will hold a hearing to examine how new advanced grid technologies and “Big Data" energy analytics can help build a more modern and flexible electric system while ensuring the continued safe, reliable, and affordable delivery of electricity to consumers.as they are posted.
Also on Wednesday, the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology will hold a hearing on the Federal Communications Commissions’ FY 2016 budget. FCC Managing Director Jon Wilkins will be the sole witness as the committee begins its work to reauthorize the FCC.as they are posted.
On Thursday, the Subcommittee on Health will review the functionality of the 340B program, a federal drug discount program. Members will hear testimony from the Health Resources and Services Administration, the Government Accountability Office, and the Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General.as they are posted.
Also on Thursday, the Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade will conduct oversight of the Consumer Product Safety Commission and its FY 2016 performance budget request. Members will carefully examine CPSC’s budget, priorities, and policies to ensure the commission is providing Americans with the protections they need without limiting consumer choices or economic growth. The Chairman and four Commissioners of the CPSC are expected to testify.as they are posted.
