WASHINGTON, DC - Energy and Power Subcommittee Chairman Ed Whitfield (R-KY) today announced witnesses for the subcommittee’s Tuesday, March 17, hearing, which will focus on legal and cost issues relating to EPA’s proposed carbon dioxide (CO2) rule for existing power plants under section 111(d) of the Clean Air Act, referred to by the agency as the “Clean Power Plan."
“Our oversight of EPA’s power plan has already identified a host of problems, and we have a great line up of witnesses for next week’s hearing who will explain some of the critical legal and cost issues," said Chairman Whitfield. “Legal experts have raised constitutional and other questions regarding the legality of the rule, and states have expressed concerns regarding the proposal’s costs, feasibility, and impacts on consumers and electric reliability. I look forward to hearing the testimony next week as we continue our oversight of EPA and efforts to rein in the agency’s overreach."
