WASHINGTON, DC - The Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade, chaired by Rep. Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), has scheduled a hearing for Friday, Feb. 26, at 10 a.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, “Disrupter Series: 3D Printing."
This hearing will continue the subcommittee’s “Disrupter Series" which aims to highlight the significant innovation taking place in our 21st century economy and help members gain a better understanding about the way new and advanced technologies are disrupting the status quo. Following reviews of the Internet of Things, sharing economy, drones, and mobile payments, members of the subcommittee will closely examine the direction of 3D printing and its impact on jobs and economic growth.
“3D printing is another example of American ingenuity at its finest. It has become an essential tool for American manufacturers, and proven to be an asset in product development for businesses across the country. With the materials and processes used in 3D printing rapidly advancing, the sky is the limit when it comes to benefits for consumers," said Burgess. “This hearing will explore the direction of 3D printing and its impact on consumers, manufacturers, and jobs here in the United States."
