E&C Look Ahead for Week of March 14

WASHINGTON, DC - The House Committee on Energy and Commerce today announced its hearing schedule for the week of March 14.

On Monday, the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will host a roundtable to discuss what is known about the causes, effects, and existing treatments of concussions. The event will bring together a panel of experts from the public health, military, athletic, and research communities to grow their collaborative body of knowledge and pave the way for more effective diagnoses and treatments.

Also on Monday, the full committee will convene for opening statements only for a markup. The following bills will be considered:

* H.R. 2666, the No Rate Regulation of Broadband Internet Access Act - Authored by Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), the bill would prohibit the Federal Communications Commission from regulating the rates charged for broadband Internet access service.

* H.R. 4725, the Common Sense Savings Act of 2016 - Authored by Rep. Joseph Pitts (R-PA), the bill achieves $25 billion in savings over 10 years by making targeted reforms to policies under Medicaid, CHIP, and Obamacare’s Prevention and Public Health Fund.

On Tuesday, the full committee will reconvene its markup.

On Wednesday, the Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade will continue its Disrupter Series with a hearing entitled, “Digital Currency and Blockchain Technology." Digital currency and blockchain applications have the potential to revolutionize the global economy. Members will closely examine issues surrounding existing and future blockchain applications and discuss how they will impact consumers and job growth.as they are posted.

On Thursday, the Subcommittee on Health will hold a hearing entitled, “Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015: Examining Implementation of Medicare Payment Reforms." The hearing will examine the implementation of repealing the SGR formula nearly one year ago, and review steps CMS has already taken to engage stakeholders in that process.as they are posted.

Also on Thursday, the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology will hold a hearing entitled “Privatizing the Internet Assigned Number Authority" to examine a proposal from a multistakeholder group for the U.S. government to transfer IANA management responsibilities to the broader Internet community.as they are posted.
