Look Ahead: Committee Announces Hearing and Vote Schedule for the Week of June 6

WASHINGTON, DC - The House Committee on Energy and Commerce today announced its hearing schedule for the week of June 6.

On Tuesday, the Subcommittee on Health will convene for opening statements only for a markup. The following bills will be considered:

* H.R. 3299, the Strengthening Public Health Emergency Response Act of 2015, authored by Reps. Susan Brooks (R-IN) and Anna Eshoo (D-CA), would incentivize research to combat the next generation of deadly diseases, ensuring that private investment is available for cutting-edge research on medical countermeasures.

* H.R. 921, the Sports Medicine Licensure Clarity Act of 2015, authored by Health Subcommittee Vice Chairman Brett Guthrie (R-KY), would clarify medical liability rules for athletic trainers and medical professionals to ensure they are properly covered by their malpractice insurance while traveling with athletic teams in another state.

On Wednesday, the Subcommittee on Health will reconvene its markup.

On Friday, the Subcommittee on Health will hold a legislative hearing examining five bills to advance patient-centered health care solutions that result in lower costs and better care. The following bills will be considered:

* H.R. ____, to amend the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to better align the grace period required for non-payment of premiums before discontinuing coverage under qualified health plans with such grace periods provided for under State law

* H.R. ____, to amend title I of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to require verification for eligibility for enrollment during special enrollment periods in PPACA insurance plans, and for other purposes

* H.R. ____, to amend title XXVII of the Public Health Service Act to change the permissible age variation in health insurance premium rates

* H.R. 3463, the Aligning Children’s Dental Coverage Act

* H.R. 4262, the Transparency and Accountability of Failed Exchanges Act

Also on Friday, the Subcommittee on Energy and Power will hold a hearing examining the Department of Energy’s conservation standards for home appliances under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act of 1975. Specifically, members will examine appliance standards set in place by the Obama administration. The administration has implemented more such standards than any previous administration, and is currently working on standards for 15 additional home appliances, including air-conditioners, furnaces, light bulbs, cooking products, and dishwashers. Stakeholders will testify about the feasibility, effectiveness, and consumer impacts of recent and proposed rule makings.as they are posted.
