WASHINGTON, DC - Following the Senate’s passage of the opioid package yesterday, by a vote of 92 to 2, the bill was sent today to Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) before moving to the White House for the president’s signature. The House passed the package on July 8, by a vote of 407 to 5.
With Speaker Ryan’s signature, the bill now heads to the president’s desk.
“Lives are at stake in this national epidemic, but the good news is that the House and Senate acted swiftly and relief is on the way," said Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI). “This thoughtful legislation will provide relief to families and their loved ones in Michigan and all across the country who have needed help but didn’t know where to turn."
The legislative package includes 11 bills passed by the Energy and Commerce Committee.
