WASHINGTON, DC - House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) and Environment and the Economy Subcommittee Chairman John Shimkus (R-IL) today welcomed the announcement that Maria Korsnick has been named President and CEO of the Nuclear Energy Institute. The committee leaders also welcomed President Obama’s comments Tuesday regarding the importance of emissions-free nuclear power.
Upton and Shimkus commented, “President Obama is exactly right - that in the real world, emissions-free nuclear power plays a critical role in our energy future, and we welcome his remarks.
“We also welcome the news that the Nuclear Energy Institute has named Maria Korsnick as its next President and Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1. We congratulate Ms. Korsnick and look forward to working closely with her and all stakeholders to ensure that clean, safe, affordable, and reliable nuclear power remains an important part of America’s all-of-the-above energy strategy. Our nuclear future is bright."
