WASHINGTON, D.C.- Energy and Commerce Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement in response to a new report from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) on Russia’s state sponsored doping program:
“Today’s report is a stark reminder that Russia cannot be trusted as a partner on the national stage, including as a participant in international sport. The scope of this cover-up casts doubt on years of athletic competition. Russia’s actions have undermined the integrity of international sport and the Olympic mission to convene the global community in a peaceful and cooperative effort.
“I commend McLaren and his team on their thorough work and dedication to ensuring fairness in the Olympic games."
The Energy and Commerce Committee has jurisdiction over domestic and international sporting events.
