The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Feb. 27, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) today issued the following statement after the U.S. Senate voted to confirm Wilbur Ross as Secretary of the Department of Commerce.

“Americans are ready for a new era of economic growth, new business opportunities, and better jobs for our stellar workforce here at home," said Walden. “Fortunately, we have a top-notch advocate for American workers and small business owners in Wilbur Ross, whose investments have had positive local impacts, saving and creating jobs all across my home state of Oregon. As a successful businessman, Wilbur understands the ins and outs of negotiation, a skill critical to striking deals that will make America more prosperous and help expand our manufacturing sector. I am glad to see the Senate’s confirmation of Wilbur today and look forward to working together to find ways we can grow jobs and empower American businesses."
