Pallone on FirstNet & AT&T Partnership to Build Public Safety Broadband Network

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on March 30, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C. - Energy and Commerce Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) responded to the announcement that FirstNet will partner with AT&T to build a nationwide broadband network for first responders:

“Today’s announcement is a tribute to the long-time work of former Senator Jay Rockefeller and former Congressman Henry Waxman, who pushed for one of the last recommendations of the 9/11 Commission-a first-of-its kind, nationwide interoperable wireless broadband network for first responders. Since passage of the landmark bipartisan law that created FirstNet, it has been working tirelessly to bring their vision to reality. I congratulate FirstNet on today’s announcement, which marks a major step forward in bringing 21st century communications technology to first responders."
