Pallone on Senate Passage of Title X CRA

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on March 30, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

Energy and Commerce Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) issued the following statement today after the Senate passed H.J. Res 43, which would invalidate a final rule promulgated by the Department of Health and Human Services in December 2016 that ensures patients can access family planning and preventative services through any Title X-qualified provider:

“This is yet another effort by the Trump Administration and Republicans in Congress to limit women’s access to healthcare by allowing states to discriminate against providers that offer family planning services. The simple truth is that Title X provides invaluable care for millions of men, women, and adolescents each year.

“It’s well beyond time for Republicans to give up their obsession with telling women which doctors they can see and what services they can have access to. Republicans in Congress should devote more of their attention to creating jobs and strengthening our economy rather than trying to dictate women’s healthcare."
