WASHINGTON, DC - House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) today issued the following statement on an amendment to the American Health Care Act (AHCA).
“I commend Representatives Fred Upton and Billy Long for their efforts to bring our conference together and reaffirm our commitment to providing protection and certainty for patients with pre-existing conditions. This amendment is an important step that dedicates even more funding to reduce premiums or other out-of-pocket costs for these patients and decidedly improves the American Health Care Act. I’d also like to thank President Trump and Vice President Pence for their tireless efforts and unparalleled engagement as we work to keep our promise of repealing and replacing Obamacare with reforms that bring down costs, increase choice, and protect patients."
