Upton Applauds Administration’s Moves to Fill FERC Vacancies

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on May 9, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - Energy Subcommittee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI), today issued the following statement after the administration nominated two of three appointees to fill the vacancies at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

“I applaud the administration’s move nominating Neil Chatterjee and Robert Powelson to fill the open seats at FERC, and I remain hopeful further nominees are on the horizon. From interstate natural gas pipelines and liquefied natural gas terminals to hydropower projects, FERC plays a vital role overseeing and modernizing our nation’s infrastructure," said # SubEnergy Chairman Upton. “I urge the Senate to consider the nominees as quickly as possible so FERC can return to its mission of providing affordable, reliable, and efficient energy to American consumers."

Earlier this year, full committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) and Subcommittee Chair Upton sent a letter to President Trump urging him to fill the existing vacancies at FERC.
