Pallone on Trump Admin’s Efforts to Suppress Open Enrollment

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Aug. 31, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

Energy and Commerce Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement today after the Trump Administration announced plans to slash funding for the upcoming Open Enrollment period, which is scheduled to begin on November 1st:

“This is a clear effort by the Trump Administration to further sabotage the Affordable Care Act by undermining Open Enrollment funding for outreach and assistance to consumers. The only reason for slashing the advertising budget by 90% is to suppress enrollment in an effort to destabilize the markets. President Trump and Secretary Price should be ashamed of this transparent effort to score political victories on the backs of hardworking Americans."
