The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Oct. 5, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - The Energy Subcommittee, chaired by Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), today scheduled a hearing for Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, at 10 a.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, “Department of Energy Missions and Management Priorities." Department of Energy Secretary Rick Perry will testify as the sole witness.

#SubEnergy will examine the Secretary of Energy’s vision for managing and executing the department’s missions. Next week’s hearing will also inform members on the opportunities to update and align DOE’s missions and operations with the emerging energy, national security, environmental, and technological challenges confronting the nation.

“I’m looking forward to welcoming Secretary Perry to the Energy and Commerce Committee for the first time this Congress," said Chairman Upton. “The Department of Energy plays an essential role in enhancing the nation’s nuclear and energy security. The work of the Department is critical to enhancing the security and reliability our energy infrastructure and facilitating recovery from energy supply disruptions. I also look forward to hearing more about Secretary Perry’s vision for the department in the nation’s ever-changing energy landscape."

A background memo and witness testimony will be available here as they are posted.
